The average weight of a Hot Wheels toy car with plastic wheels is 36.25 grams (1.28 ounces), but it varies from model to model. In our research, the weight range can be anywhere from 34 grams (1.2 ounces) to 82 grams (2.9 ounces).

To verify this I ordered up a baking scale and spent the evening measuring and making this handy guide for you. I am naturally drawn to the cars with rubber tires (aka "Real Riders) so I had to grab a few from my kids' collection of plastic-wheels Hot Wheels.

Accuweight Scale

I also tried to detail the Serial Numbers but for a number of the cars, I could not find a serial number. I photographed different angles and the bases in case anyone is able to help me find the missing serial numbers.

Without further adieu let the games begin!

What is the Heaviest Hot Wheels Toy Car that I own?

The heaviest Hot Wheels toy car that I own is actually part of a two-piece set that included a Lightweight Jaguar E-Type and a car hauler called the "Jaguar Carry On". The Jaguar Carry On weighs in at a hefty 82 grams (or 2.9 ounces)!

What is the Lightest Hot Wheels Toy Car that I Own?

The lightest Hot Wheels toy car that I own is a 1996 Porsche Carerra (993) weighing in at 34 grams (or 1.2 ounces), which is fitting because that's one of my favorite sports cars in real life!

There is quite a difference between cars with rubber 2-piece wheels (Real Riders wheels) and the normal plastic 1-piece wheels. This is probably because the cars with the 2-piece type are made more for adults and collectors who appreciate both metal bases and rubber tires. On average the Real Riders cars weighed 19.63 grams (0.69 ounces) more than the plastic-wheeled cars.

Hot Wheels Toy Car Weights (The Data)

Below you will find the complete dataset that I collected while creating this article. As I mentioned above some of the data is incomplete because I could not find the Serial numbers on the base of the vehicles. If you have additional data please reach out to me on Instagram and I'll be happy to add it to the set and recalculate to make the summary data more accurate.

BMW E46 Oil, Types, Capacities & What You May Not Know

The BMW E46 has a common misconception about oil. Many believe that these cars burn too much oil. A well cared for and higher mileage (173,000+) vehicle in my experience burns the same amount of oil that it burnt the day it left the factory in Germany -- 1 quart per...
